A Loom Width-and-a Half: Pieced Kasuri Cotton

$75.00 USD

early twentieth century
68" x 20 1/2", 173 cm x 52 cm

This length of pieced cotton is composed of a full loom width stitched from two pieces and a half loom width cut from four pieces. This pieced arrangement, this fracturing of the original design adds much to the visual enjoyment of the piece.

The entire piece shows nicely hand woven stripes in a brownish tone which are set against a channel of blue and white, the design being that of the arrow feather or yabane.

The surface is slightly pitted with small holes which are traces of use and the exertion of time and these details are indicated on the detail photos attached here.

This is a very attractive boro textile.
