A Long Piece of Crinkly and Beautiful Pale Blue Kaya: Indigo Dyed Hemp
$50.00 USD
ca. early to mid twentieth century
118" x 13", 299.5 cm x 33 cm
This is a lovely--and very long-- length of rustic, hand plied hemp kaya or mosquito netting whose color is a faded, medium-toned, very warm powder blue.
The fibers are wonderfully wiry and the lax weaving creates a mesh like effect; on the accompanying detail photos, take note of some of the color variation in the yarns--some yarns do not drink in the indigo dye as well as others, likely due to their rustic, hand-plied qualities.
Simply beautiful in color and texture, this is a very good piece of old kaya.
