A Length of Well-Worn Bast Fiber Kaya: Patched Mosquito Netting

This is a length of very old, very well-worn, hand plied and hand woven undyed bast fiber mesh. It is a panel taken from a mosquito net.

The length was used hard and probably for decades.

We can see fading, staining and threadbare areas as well as a really nice indigo dyed cotton patch which is applied to the top, left corner. As this length unapologetically reveals traces of its history in terms of surface wear this length is for someone who can appreciate this kind of weathered surface.

It is a beautiful thing and one with great age and character.
