A Length of Warp Zanshi Ori: Leftover Cotton Kasuri Yarns

$80.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
74" x 13 1/4", 188 cm x 33.5 cm

This is a length of zanshi-ori, or cloth which is hand woven from left over yarns.  In this case, the indigo blue warp yarns are leftover kasuri, or ikat, yarns, and the visual effect they impart is something akin to rain.

This length of zanshi-ori is unusual for the leftover warp yarns being used on the warp, as it is more common to find leftover yarns feeding the weft.

The color and pattern of this length is very attractive and sophisticated, and the condition is very good.

Please note that the color of the "window pane" horizontal and vertical stripes is a combination of a white cotton stripe next to a mustard color cotton stripe. The accompany photos may not translate this combination properly.

A really nice piece of hand woven cloth.
