A Length of Spare Shibori: Akita Shibori

This length of elegant, indigo dyed cotton is dyed in the shibori method, and it most likely was made in the Tohoku or north east region of Japan, where this style of shibori is prevalent.

Probably taken from a kimono, this length of cotton shows six, diagonally placed, coin-sized "blooms" of tie-dye: the color of the resisted areas is a soft blue; the edges and the imprint of the shibori on the cloth, too, has a soft, vague appearance.  Just lovely.

The cotton is in good condition; it has been used but the cotton and the coloration are both strong and appealing.
