A Length of Spare and Patterned Shibori: Well Cribs

$56.00 USD

reduced from $70.00
ca. early to mid twentieth century
28" x 14", 71 cm x 35.5 cm

As is evidenced by the creases you can see on this length of indigo dyed cotton, this shibori fragment was once part of a kimono.

The cloth shows beautifully rich and deep indigo color which is contrasted by stark, perfect little kumo or spiderwebs, which, on the left hand side of the cloth form diagonally-oriented renderings of the traditional well crib motif, usually shown as the hashtag.

A good, short length of cloth with rich color and some real visual presence.
