A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Strands of Chrysanthemums

$30.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
24 1/2" x 13 1/4", 62 cm x 33.5 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.

The pattern shows a design of highly stylized, stitched shibori  half-chrysanthemums that are arranged as a series of vertically-oriented strands.

The shibori is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.

Wonderful to look at!
