A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Roundels
$30.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
25 1/2" x 13", 63.5 cm x 33 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.
The pattern shows a design of two roundels each of which contains two types of flowers, one is cherry blossom while the other might be a chrysanthemum. The background is a network of irregularly-spaced, intersecting curved lines.
The shibori is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.
Wonderful to look at!
