A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Paving Stones Design
$30.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
25" x 12 3/4", 63.5 cm x 32.5 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.
The pattern is a traditional one that is meant to suggest paving stones. It gives a "woven" effect and it is a delight for the eyes.
The stitched pattern is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.
Beautiful.
