A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Pale Tinting of Selected Light Areas

This is a length of stitched shibori cotton that has been dyed in indigo, the cotton is still creased from the shibori dyeing process as well as bearing creases from its former life as a yukata. This piece was taken from a yukata which is an unlined, casual kimono.

The pattern is that of interconnected maple leaves, the design drawn in such a way as to suggest movement of the leaves or to give the impression that they are falling.

The "white" areas of the cloth are slightly tinted with a pale blue tone--somehow there was some stray indigo that bled in slightly mottled form into what was meant to be undyed white cotton, so please know this.

Nonetheless this is an impressive length of shibori dyeing with an attractive pattern.
