A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Optically Entrancing Waves #4

$30.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
25 1/4" x 13", 64 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.

The pattern shows stitched shibori lines that form an optically wavy and delightful design that suggests shifting volumes not unlike what can be seen on a topographical map. Quite inventive.

The stitched pattern is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.

Wonderful to look at!
