A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Flower Forms and Stream
$30.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
26" x 12 1/2", 66 cm x 31.5 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.
The pattern shows a design of a central curving image that is meant to evoke a stream which is surrounded by flower images that seem based on the traditional interlocking circle motif.
The shibori is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.
Wonderful to look at!
