A Length of Shibori: Arimatsu Made Yukata Cloth
$40.00 USD
mid twentieth century
58" x 13", 147 cm x 33 cm
This is a beautifully graphic length of mid century shibori which used a synthetic indigo on a machine loomed cotton.
The pattern is a large repeat of a grid-like designs that are staggered along the length.
The pattern is bold and striking from the top of the length to the bottom.
As this length was taken from a yukata which is a casual, unlined, cotton kimono, there are ingrained creases from its decades of use as such.
But this is a wonderful pattern, with strong graphic appeal and an expertly rendered shibori in the tie dyed technique.
