This is a length of mid-scale checks done in deep toned blue and a medium toned brownish colors, a simple, but very attractive design--and one with universal appeal.

Checks or plaids were a big part of Japanese textile design which might not seem obvious, but have a look here to see a smattering of images, mostly culled from ukiyo-e.

This length has a slight bend in its center and its simple design married with its nice colors is its power.
