A Length of Plaid Indigo Cotton: Red Patch
ca. early twentieth century
38" x 14", 96.5 cm x 35.5 cm
This simple yet beautiful length of indigo dyed boro cotton is hand sewn from three, separate pieces. The base cloth is a moody plaid of deep, deep blue against a slightly clearer blue.
The bottom half of the boro shows some blotches of light fading, but the real cherry on top, as it were, is the small, red cotton patch that is applied to the top seam. Just beautiful.
A gorgeous length of old cotton, and a piece rich in hand work. Just lovely.
