A Length of Pieced Shirakage Shibori: Luscious Hand Spun Cotton Yarns

$65.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
47 1/2" x 11 1/2", 120.5 cm x 29 cm

This is a length of beautifully old shirakage shibori that shows an expertly-done pattern of fundo tsunagi which is a design inspired by counterweights and which you might know through the technique of sashiko stitching where this pattern can often be seen.

The cloth itself is beautifully tactile because it is hand woven from hand spun cotton yarns. The indigo is of a warm, rich tone and is no doubt botanical indigo.

The length is hand stitched from four distinct pieces with the seam of one of them unraveled for about 1" or 2.5 cm.

The luscious hand spun cotton yarns add an imbedded, extra dose of beauty to this already attractive length.

Just lovely.
