Zanshi ori is cloth that is woven from threads either leftover from home production of yarn making, or from broken threads that were purchased from local commercial weavers.

Usually the weft is fed with these random threads which is the case here with this unusual, patched and piece length of soft, drapey, cotton mosquito netting.

It is not often we find examples of mosquito netting that is woven as zanshi ori so it is a treat to offer this length.

This one is dark in tone and it appears that it was over dyed in a green dye. Being overdyed has muted the striations that are due to the left over yarns but they can still be seen: they are subtle.

The top, pieced portion in the second photo is much lighter than in actuality--in person this top piece is the same color tone and value as the rest of the length.

Please know this is a soft and supple length of cotton mesh and therefore it drapes nicely--it could even be used as a scarf if you do not want to admire on the wall as art work.

Rare and interesting to look at--recommended.
