A Length of Patched Kasuri Cotton: Indigo Dyed

$75.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
57 1/2" x 13 1/2", 146 cm x 34.25 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton kasuri that shows images and designs: the rounded object pictured is a mallet which suggests fortune since it is associated with the lucky god Daikoku.

The rectilinear images contain what appear to be stylized noshi, another symbol of good luck.

The length is patched with four patches of different sizes and different types of cotton. The interplay between these patches and the ground fabric is, of course, visually interesting.

This is a very handsome length of old kasuri cotton that carries with it a great deal of good vibes.

Charming.
