A Length of Patched Cotton: Small Scale Plaid Base Cloth

$70.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
52" x 13 1/2", 132 cm x 34 cm

This is a length of fairly lightweight, hand loomed cotton that has been patched. Judging from the type of cotton this most likely was taken from a kimono.

The design of the cotton is of small checks and the five or so relatively bold patches are a nice foil to the subtle design of the cloth.

This is much more nuanced looking in person than it is in photos and with it comes so much potential for end use; a scarf, artwork, incorporation into a design project.

Subtle and beautiful.
