A Length of Patched Cotton: Mended Panel

This is a length of grey-blue toned cotton that has been patched with three indigo toned cotton patches.

The patches as they are arranged on this length are wonderfully artful--it is as if they were almost placed this way on purpose for visual effect.

The base cloth is used, abraded, faded and slightly pitted; the three patches are there to add stability to and to repair the length. There are two very small holes, pictured on the accompanying detail photos.

This is an unintended artwork and it is one of the joys of finding patched, old cloth: the pleasing effect on the eye is wonderful.
