A Length of Low Contrast Striped Cotton: Four Patches
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
70 1/2" x 14", 179 cm x 35.5 cmÂ
This is a beautifully textured, good looking length of woven striped cotton cloth that is hand loomed from home spun cotton yarns.
The striped plaid cloth is colored with a low contrast combination of almost-complimentary shades of grey blue and dull maize or beige colors. The texture of the length is soft and feels almost drapey in the hand.
There are four cotton patches which are hand stitched to the top of the length and their spacing is as artful as it is practical.
This is a good looking length of old hand spun, hand woven cotton cloth in good, used condition.
