A Length of Large Scale Indigo Dyed Plaid Cotton: Patched

late nineteenth, early twentieth century

This length of old hand spun, hand woven cotton shows a bold, large-scale plaid done in tones of indigo. 

The relatively modest length of this cloth plays well with the large-scale design, especially in the way the dark, blue cotton patches act as a visual foil to the pattern of the base.

The weaving is tight and expertly done and there is a tear to the center of the cloth shown in the detail photo presented here.

This is something very nice to look and and it has quite good age.
