A Length of Kasuri Cotton: Well-Used
$20.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
60" x 12 1/4", 152.5 cm x 30.5 cm
This is length of black colored cotton that has been woven in the kasuri or ikat technique, showing large-scale "well covers," a traditional Japanese design motif.
The well covers sit within a wide grid and 4 are shown on this length which was undoubtedly taken from a futon cover.
The cloth is somewhat light faded and shows a good deal overall wear and patina with some small holes and snags and a faint stain or two, one of which is noted on the accompanying detail photo.
A lovely length of traditional kasuri weaving with a strong graphic appeal.
