A Length of Kasuri and Striped Cotton: Gradient Stripes and Arrow Feathers
$75.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
64 1/2" x 13 1/2", 164 cm x 33.5 cm
This is beautiful length of cotton cloth that shows two distinct design features.
On the left is a column of gradient lines done in a silvery-gold and black tone while on the right hand hand side is a column of blue, white and yellow which shows loose and "brushy" kasuri chevrons. These chevrons are abstracted arrow feathers, a traditional Japanese design motif.
The cloth is of a good length and shows two attractively-placed patches in its center area.
A very attractive length of old cotton, presumably from a futon cover.
