A Length of Itajime Dyed Cotton: Loose Grid

$40.00 USD

mid twentieth century
48" x 12 1/2", 122 cm x 32 cm

This cotton cloth is dyed in the itajime shibori or clamp dyed method and shows a loose, evenly-spaced grid pattern.

To create this grid pattern the cotton would have been folded, then clamped, and then the edges would have been dyed.  The result is this deep indigo dyed squared pattern.

The indigo color is rich in tone and is set deeply into the cloth.

Please note the stamp to the upper, right-hand corner of the piece which indicates this length was taken from the end of the bolt of cloth. This length is good condition overall.

Really lovely color.
