A Length of Indigo Dyed Kasuri: Stripes Two Ways
$55.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
48 1/2" x 13", 123 cm x 33 cm
This is a handsomely designed length of cotton kasuri that was dyed in a dark, almost-black dye and shows an elegant pattern of warp and weft-based light colored stripes and a field of groups of warp-based kasuri blips.
The length shows warp-based lines that are arranged in groups of three and are set against weft-based lines which are woven from one light colored thread.
The cloth is hand woven and bears a nice drape: there is one small hole to the piece and a beautiful, single patch.
A lovely subtle thing.
