A Length of Indigo Dyed Cotton Boro: Dark Patches

$85.00 USD

 ca. late nineteenth century
58" x 13", 147.5 cm x 33 cm

This indigo dyed boro panel is handsome, dark and subtle.

The cotton is beautiful: it is hand spun, hand woven and shows an utterly fantastic patina from wear: this patina enhances the appearance of the fine, old threads that have been used to weave this length of cloth.

This piece is made from sections of cloth that have been hand stitched together.  There are two patches of purple cotton which are used to mend or reinforce this piece of cloth, one at top, and one near the center.

This is a subtle beauty, and one whose character resides in its threads.

Wonderful and understated.
