A Length of Indigo Dyed Cotton Boro: Heavy Patches

$85.00 USD

early twentieth century
77" x 13 1/4", 195.5 cm x 33.65 cm

This is a handsome length of old indigo dyed cotton--seemingly hand spun and hand woven--whose center has been crudely patched with three patches.

The largest of the patches is two layers thick while the other two patches are stacked one on top of the other, the top most one being small and of an irregular shape. The cotton is nicely faded.

This patched, boro cloth was most probably taken from a futon cover and without doubt the futon cover was made from recycled or re-purposed old indigo cotton pieces.

Simple and well-designed this is a good looking old length of boro cloth.
