A Length of Heavily Patched Striped Cotton: Boro
$85.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
62" x 14", 157.5 cm x 35.5 cm
This is a beautiful length of indigo dyed cotton that is woven with hand spun cotton fibers. The length is composed of two pieces that are hand stitched together.
There are about 20 small patches which stud its surface, all of them hand stitched to the base, as can be expected of a piece of cotton this age. The striped base cloth is very handsome and the many patches add a depth of beauty to the length which is easy to see both on the lead photo and on the accompanying detail photos.
A really lovely piece of old, hand loomed Japanese cotton.
