This is a beautiful length of hand woven, indigo dyed cotton that was once part of a larger piece, a futon cover. Wide striped fabric like this was regularly woven to be used in the home as bedding; such graphic and large-scale stripes were too bold to be used on garments such as kimono.
The length is in good, used condition, shows handsome coloration and is stitched together from two separate pieces.
A gorgeous length of cotton from old Japan.
