A Length of Handsome Kasuri Dyed Cotton: Stacks

$110.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
59" x 13", 150 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of kasuri dyed cotton, the kasuri is of a type that is likely from Kurume on Kyushu or, perhaps, Iyo which is on Shikoku--some examples of the two types of kasuri are stylistically related and can be confused for one another.

This one shows a stack of diamond shapes and exes each made of square, resisted blocks. The background is a very deep, almost-black tone and the weft-oriented stripes are faintly colored in two warm tones.

The condition of this very handsome length is good and used and as kasuri dyed cottons are concerned this one is of good quality.

Recommended.
