A Length of Geometric Shibori: Partial Width

$55.00 USD

early twentieth century
51 1/2" x 10 3/4", 131 cm x 27.25 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed shibori cotton--the indigo is more than likely not botanical--and it shows a complex design using stitched and tied techniques.

The pattern is based on diagonals: lines, blocks and "steps" and the feeling is somewhat modern.

As this length comes from a yukata or an unlined, casual kimono there are ingrained creases from its time as a garment but otherwise it is in good, used condition. And please note this is not a full loom width; it has been cut down and there is only one of the two selvedge edges intact.

This is a bold and unusual pattern with lots of visual appeal.
