A Length of Double Arashi Shibori: Indigo Dyed Cotton

$80.00 USD

mid twentieth century
54" x 13", 137 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton which was dyed in the arashi shibori method, a technique which produces many patterns depending on how it is manipulated, this one showing a dense, repeated pattern of small diamonds.

The indigo is of a nice, warm tone, and the cotton--not hand loomed--is soft and of good quality.

This piece was taken from a yukata, an unlined, summer kimono, so it still retains ingrained creases from its former life.

Presumably made in Narumi or Arimatsu, this is a fantastic piece of shibori for study, or to be admired.

Wonderful.
