A Length of Cotton from a Futon Cover: Stripes
ca. late nineteenth, early twentieth century
65" x 13 3/4", 165 cm x 35 cm
This handsome length if indigo dyed cotton was taken from a futon cover.
This fragment is hand loomed and the cotton yarns may be hand spun. The color is lovely and restrained, and predominately white, blue and a faded ochre colore, each of which is shaded by the ingido dyed weft yarns which cast a bit of a shadow over the pure warp yarns.
A lovely length of hand loomed cloth.
