A Length of Cotton and Silk Zanshi Ori: Left Over Yarns
$65.00 USD
mid twentieth century
62" x 12", 157.5 cm x 30.5 cm
Zanshi ori is a very particular type of Japanese home weaving that is made from from left over yarns. Usually the weft yarns are leftover, which is the case here.
This cloth is woven from what appears to be a silk warp with a cotton or cotton/silk weft and it has a crisp texture. The remaindered weft yarns give the beautiful "white noise-like" quality to the random pattern.
In good used condition, this is a really lovely length of old zanshi ori.
