A Length of Boldly Graphic Shibori Dyed Cotton: Morning Glories
60" x 13 1/2", 152.5 cm x 34 cm
This is a beautiful, shibori dyed cotton length that was taken from a yukata--a yukata is an unlined cotton kimono that is often worn in summer time.
This length shows a lovely and boldly graphic, large repeat pattern of nicely depicted, stylized morning glories, a favorite Japanese flower that was wildly hybridized in the 19th century.
The cotton is in good, used condition with ingrained creases from its former life as a yukata. The cotton is machine loomed and the deep tone of indigo color is more than likely a synthetic dye which was used almost universally for this type of cloth at this time in Japan.
This is an especially lovely, bold pattern.
