A Length of Boldly Geometeric Kasuri: Handwoven Indigo Dyed Ikat
$75.00 USD
early twentieth century
60 1/2" x 13 1/2", 154 cm x 34 cm
This is a strikingly simple and graphically appealing length of hand spun, hand woven indigo dyed kasuri cotton.
The length shows a repeat pattern of staggered, symmetrically arranged squares, the squares showing the distinctive "dappled" appearance of the kasuri or ikat yarns which are tied before they are dyed.
The cotton is tightly woven and is of good, deep color. The pattern is spare and very attractive.
A very good length of old indigo dyed kasuri cotton.
