A Length of Blue on White Shibori: Super Complex Design and Technique
early twentieth century
35 1/2" x 12 1/2", 90 cm x 31/5 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that is dyed using both stitched and tied techniques, the result being a super-complex, almost-textured pattern.
The blue-on-white aspect of the densely dyed shibori enhances the textural effect; this is an example of shibori so visually appealing and relatively rare that it is a pleasure to offer it for sale.
The cotton is old and possibly hand woven: there are flaws to it.
Small snags and a few holes--as well as a small stain or two--mar the surface but they do not detract from the overall beauty of this stunning little length of old indigo dyed cotton shibori.
