A Length of Blue-on-Blue Miura Shibori: Hand Woven Cotton
early twentieth century
29 !/2" x 12 3/4", 75 cm x 32.5 cm
This is a beautiful length of old indigo dyed shibori cloth: the cotton is hand woven from from hand spun yarns and has a marvelous, hand made texture.
It is of good weight.
The shibori is a blue-on-blue field done in the miura technique. Miura shibori looks like a dappled field of uniform-sized splotches.
One short side of this length indicates it might be the end of a bolt which is always interesting to consider.
A not-so-often seen length of indigo dyed cotton shibori of such good age this piece is wonderful for its expertly done pattern and for its wonderful old hand woven cotton.
