A Length of Beautiful Kasuri Cotton: Elegant Pattern
$60.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
53" x 14", 134.5 cm x 35.5 cm
This is a beautifully colored and elegantly designed length of kasuri dyed cotton. The design is based on wide, vertical bars of a dirty maize color with blips of white, resist dyed yarns that flank a pair of pinkish, narrow stripes.
The handwoven cotton cloth is lightly starched and one of the short ends is torn in three places very near the edge of the length: this can be easily removed.
This is a really rich and elegant length of kasuri weaving from old Japan and was undoubtedly taken from a futon cover.
Really lovely.
