A Length of Beautfiully Colored and Patched Cotton Kaya: Mosquito Netting
ca. early to mid twentieth century
78" x 13"< 198 cm x 33 cm
This is a particularly beautiful, cotton boro kaya or mosquito netting. Its beauty resides in its lovely, warm blue color, almost a cornflower blue: clear, rich and easy on the eyes.
The patching to this kaya is also top-notch, with 7 patches of cotton cloth, each hand stitched to the base, and with a particularly pretty one at the top of the cloth, a small, floral design.
There are two holes to this boro kaya, and on the bottom, right hand edge, there is a portion of selvedge missing.
A visual treat, this boro kaya has many alluring qualities, chief among them its indigo dyed color.
