A Length of Arashi Shibori: Very Small Scale, Complex Pattern
$90.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
62" x 13 1/2", 157.5 cm x 34 cm
This is a generously-sized length of indigo dyed arashi shibori whose pattern is startlingly complex, dense and of small scale.
From a distance the cloth looks to be of a medium-toned blue, however on closer inspection the diagonally pleated pattern is obvious.
Arashi shibori is a technique of which there are countless variations and this particular one is masterful for its intensely tight pattern.
This one is quite recommended as this length shows a particularly good example of the arashi technique in shibori.
