A Large Zokin: Recycled Black Clothing
$25.00 USD
ca. mid twentieth century
14 1/2" x 17", 37 cm x 43 cm
This is a large and thickly layered zokin, or dustcloth, which has been assembled from old, discarded, commercially produced black cotton.
The actual black cloth of the zokin seems to be machine stitched while the finished zokin shows hand stitched, vertical rows of white cotton thread.
The subtle play of black-on-black is just wonderful, as is the quite large size of this zokin, which could easily be used as a placemat.
Wonderful.
