A Large Zokin: Boro Cotton

$23.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
16" x 14", 40.5 cm x 35.5 cm

This is a slightly larger-than-most, sashiko stitched cotton zokin, or dustcloth.

It has been assembled from four types of old, discarded, cotton cloth and it has real "boro" appeal.

The cotton used to create this zokin is clearly re-used.  The entire zokin is covered in vertical rows of white, sashiko stitches.

The play of color and pattern is just wonderful, as is the quite large size of this zokin, which could easily be used as a place mat.
