A Large Vintage Silk and Cotton Zabuton: End Bolt Stamps

$65.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
23" x 19" x 1 1/2", 58.5 cm x 48 cm x 3.75 cm

Zabuton are traditional Japanese cushions used when sitting on the floor, and they are usually square or just off-square, as is this one.

This zabuton is of good size, as can be seen by noting the dimensions above.  It is hand stitched from three different fabrics: a brown/green/yellow plaid cotton, a printed cottonm and a purple and maize colored checked silk, some of which still bear the hand stamping from the cloth's original weaver or vendor.

The zabuton is filled with cotton wadding, it is in very good condition, and as it is a sturdily made sitting cushion which appears not to have been used, it still has a great deal of life left.  It can easily be used in any home setting.

A lovely, hand made zabuton.
