A Large Figured Zokin: Recycled Child's Kimono

$25.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
12" x 16", 30.5 cm x 40.5 cm

This is a really wonderful, hand stitched zokin, a traditional dustrag that is created from scraps of old cloth in what may be arguably one of the last phases of repurposing of old cloth.

This one is larger than most--please see the dimensions listed above.  It is also sewn from richly colored cloth; in the case of the figured cloth, this piece was recycled from a child's kimono.

Vertical rows of haphazard sashiko stitching keep this layered rag quilted in place.

Just charming.
