A Large Cotton Zokin: Kasuri
ca. mid twentieth century
12 1/2" x 15 1/4", 32 cm x 38.5 cm
This zokin, or sashiko stitched dustrag, is sewn from layers of cotton cloth which are then sashiko stictched together.
What makes this zokin so interesting is that it is of a good size--larger than most-- and shows lovely tones of soft, indigo dyed kasuri cotton in a lovely arrangement.
This traditional dustrag shows a lot of visual appeal, both in terms of color and texture.
