A Large Boro Zokin #4: Traditional Dustrag
early to mid twentieth century
14 3/4" x 12 1/4, 37.5 cm x 31 cm
Zokin are traditional Japanese dustrags which are almost always made from layered and sashiko stitched scraps of cloth.
This is a large-sized and very handsome boro zokin which is pieced-together recycled cotton cloth which has been beautifully sashiko stitched.
The stitching is rustic; the design of the cotton pieces is perfectly arbitrary; this is a very good example of an old zokin. Just wonderful.
