A Kumo Shibori Mini Zabuton: Padded Cushion
ca. mid twentieth century
12 1/2" x 9 3/4", 32 cm x 25 cm
This small, bright, padded, shibori dyed textile is most likely some form of zabuton or traditional sitting cushion.
It shows a looped handled hand stitched to one corner while the cotton is dyed in a tied shibori method, the result called kumo or spiderweb. The small cushion is filled with cotton wadding and the surface shows a bit of very faint scuffing and a barely-there stain.Really charming.
