Zokin are traditional Japanese dust rags which are almost always made from layered and sashiko stitched scraps of cloth.
This is a very handsome zokin which is sewn from black colored recycled cotton cloth which has been beautifully sashiko stitched with thick hemp thread in a repeat pattern of crosses--a desirable detail when collecting antique and vintage zokin. Pelase note the very small hand stitched "button hole" on each side of this zokin, indicating the base cloth may be a recycled garment.
